ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN EDINBURGH | E00554088 HERB. HORT. EDINB. Flora of Belize Acanthaceae Avicennia germinans (L.) L. Corozal: C. 2 Km South of Sarteneja; 500 m North East of La Isla. 18°20'19" N, 88°07'25" W Frequent sprawling shrub to 3 m; leaves glaucous below, salt crystals above; tight inflorescence of small white flowers with 4 cream petals, yellow in tube & 4 white anthers; lines of finger-like pneumatophores spreading out from shrub, Open saline coastal savanna. Open grassland dominated by Distichlis spicata (Goodwin 1580) with islands of frequent Rhizophora mangle, Conocarpus erectus, Laguncularia racemosa, Bravaisia berlandieriana & Thrinax radiata. Inundated to 5-10 cm with brackish water.
