Conostegia xalapensis (Bonpl.) D. Don ex DC. .
Belize: Old Northern Highway; ca. 4 Km North of Maskall,
50 South of road.
17°54'14" N, 88°20'08" W
Rare shrub 2 m; flowers with pale pink deciduous calyptra to
reveals 5 pink petals & 10 yellow anthers; fruit dark blue at
maturity.
Dense woody savanna between Eleocharis marsh & broadleaf.
seasonal forest on limestone. Abundant Byrsonima crassifolia
3-5 m, Curatella americana 3-5 m, frequent Hemiangium
excelsium 4 m & occasional Metopium brownii 5 m, 50%.
Grass dominated herb layer 80%. Not burnt recently.
