ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN EDINBURGH E00554375 HERB. HORT. EDINB. Flora of Belize Hypoxidaceae Curculigo scorzonerifolia (Lam.) Baker Stann Creek: South of Silk Grass Village; 300 m along track to West of Southern Highway at southern entrance to the village. 16°52'46" N, 88°21'07" W Dominant in herb layer; | - 2 leaves to 30 cm long; single flower with 6 (slightly orange) yellow tepals & 6 yellow anthers, held ~ Scm above ground. Dense pine savanna woodland. Canopy dominated by Pinus caribaea 14 m tall, 10-15 cm DBH, 5% canopy; shrub layer 20% cover of abundant Acoelorraphe wrightii 2-3 m, Byrsonima crassifolia 1-3 m, frequent Curatella americana 2- 3 m, Calliandra houstoniana | m, Gliricidia sepium 2 m and occasional Davilla kunthii 2 m. Herb layer 30% grass dominated with abundant Curculigo scorzonerifolia. Site burnt recently (c. 1.5 months), lots of additional human disturbance & no pine regeneration visible.
