Goldblatt Belize: Orange Walk, Road from Northern Highway (at Carmelita) to Maskall/Bomba, 3 miles; 50 m north of road. Site 7 18° 01’ 09.84" N 88° 31° 35.82" W (WGS84) Open woody savanna with scattered pine; with abundant Crescentia cujete (5 m), frequent Byrsonima crassifolia (3 m), frequent Myrtaceae (2 m), occasional Pinus caribaea (17 m) providing <5% canopy cover with islands of denser shrubs such as Metopium brownei, Acoelorraphe wrightii & Hampea trilobata around Quecus oleioides (16 m). Herb layer 60% sedges and 40% grasses together providing 80% ground cover. Alt.: 20m Occasional herb to 40 cm; flower w/ 6 shimmery pale blue/mauve tepals, paler towards base with dark purple markings; 3 dark purple anthers; 6-lobed feathery, blue stigma.
