Belize: Orange Walk, Road from Northern Highway (at
Carmelita) to Maskall/Bomba, 3 miles; 50 m north of road. Site 7
18° 01° 09.84" N 88° 31° 35.82" W (WGS84)
Open woody savanna with scattered pine; with abundant
Crescentia cujete (5 m), frequent Byrsonima crassifolia (3 m),
frequent Myrtaceae (2 m), occasional Pinus caribaea (17 m)
providing <5% canopy cover with islands of denser shrubs such
as Metopium brownei, Acoelorraphe wrightii & Hampea trilobata
around Quecus oleioides (16 m). Herb layer 60% sedges and
40% grasses together providing 80% ground cover.

Abundant herb to 40 cm in open savanna and trackside; 1 (-2)
flowers per plant; 6 white, shimmery tepals, lanceolate to
spathulate with apiculate tip, outer tepals 25 x 9 mm, inner 25 x
7 mm; 3 yellow anthers; white gynoecium. Flowers opened at 6
am (just after sunrise) and shut at 8.30 am.
