Rhododendron schlippenbachii Maxim.
Locality: South Korea: Kangwon-do, Jeongseon County:
Hambaeksan; summit just below the miltary station.
37° 09’ 41.9" N 128° 55’ 5.2" E (WGS84). 1542m
Covered with a few scattered, low trees of Abies nephrolepis but
mainly with severly stunted trees and shrubs including: Berberis
amurensis, Weigela subsessilis, Sorbus commixta, Prunus
padus, Salix caprea, Betula ermanii, Euonymus sachalinensis,
Thuya koraienesis (infrequently), Ribes fasciculatus, Quercus
mongolica, Acer tschonoskii var. rubripes, Rhododendron
schlippenbachii and Rh. Yedoensis.
Description: Deciduous shrub to 1.5 m tall; leaves plum-
coloured
