Flora of Belize Darwin Initiative Project - Developing Integrated Assessment of Biodiversity in Secondary Forest in Belize Cyclanthaceae Asplundia chiapensis (Matuda) Harling Det by Z.A.Goodwin on Aug 07 Belize: Stann Creek District, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, 1km SE from visitors centre, 50m-along & 30m north of the Tiger Fern Trail, plot 4. 16° 46° 59.1" N 88° 27° 12.6" W (WGS84) Tropical evergreen, lowland, seasonal, broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant, canopy height 17+m, 80% canopy cover. Understory is dense layer of Polybotrys caudata, young Attalea cohune, Costus pulverulentus, Calathea micans, and numerous Psychotria and Miconia sp. Altitude: 100m Red clay-based soil in floodplain of tributary to South Stann Creek, granite bedrock with occasional limestone pockets. Common epiphyte.
