Elev. 2900 m 25° 44' 43.6" N, 98° 43' 1.8" E SW facing 30-60° slope Subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest Undisturbed. Forest dominated by Rhododendron, Salix, Gaultheria, Rubus, Lyonia, and bamboo. Shrub 3-4 m tall. Flowers white. Persistent calyx dark red. Occasional. Growing in sunny area in forest. In loam on marble.
