Wet, broad leaf forest. Damp soil, with lots of organic matter. Specimen in clearing at the edge of the forest with evidence of disturbance e.g. treefall. Growing with Heliconiaceae. 18 m. 17°34'50"N, 88°42'8"W. Understorey shrub, up to around 2.5 metres in height. Leaves mid green.
