Kubitzki Det by Z.A.Goodwin on Jul 07 Belize: Stann Creek District, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, 1km SE from visitors centre, 300m along & 60m off the Tiger Fern Trail, plot 2. 16° 46° 54.1" N 88° 27’ 7.7" W (WGS84) Tropical evergreen, lowland, seasonal, broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant, canopy height 17+m, 80% canopy cover. Understory is dense layer of Polybotrys caudata, young Attalea cohune, Costus pulverulentus, Calathea micans, and numerous Psychotnia and Miconia sp. Altitude: 100m Red clay-based soil in floodplain of tributary to South Stann Creek, granite bedrock with occasional limestone pockets. Vine from canopy of Alchomea latifolia, stems feel sticky.
