Det by P.G.Maas on Aug 07 Belize: Stann Creek District, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, 1km SE from visitors centre, 300m along & 30m off the Tiger Fern Trail, plot 1 16° 46° 55.1" N 88° 27’ 7.7" W (WGS84) Tropical evergreen, lowland, seasonal, broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant, canopy height 17+m, 80% Canopy cover. Understory is dense layer of Polybotrys caudata, young Attalea cohune, Costus pulverulentus, Calathea micans, and numerous Psychotna and Miconia sp. Altitude: 100m Red clay-based soil in floodplain of tributary to South Stann Creek, granite bedrock with occasional limestone pockets. Up to 2m tall, frequent in understory.
