SW facing 10-30° slope
Subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest
Disturbed by agriculture and felling.
Forest dominated by Rhododendron, Acer, Lauraceae, Ilex, and
Tsuga. .
Shrub ca. 50 cm tall. Leaf bud bracts red. Young fruit green.
Persistent stigma red. Rare. Growing under forest in partial shade
In loam on limestone.
