Mixed deciduous forest of Acer spp., Corylus thibetica, Prunus spp., Betula, Tilia, Tetracentron, Picea, Rhododendron (tree), Aria, occasional Picea and Pterocarya; with dense herbaceous groundcover. Stony-rocky soil in open on outcrop above river. Shrub ca. 2 m tall; just beginning to flower; corolla purple with dark purple spots on upper lobe and adjacent parts of lateral lobes.
