Mixed deciduous forest of Acer spp., Corylus thibetica, Prunus spp., Betula, Tilia, Tetracentron, Picea, Rhododendron (tree), Aria, occasional Picea and Pterocarya; with dense herbaceous groundcover. Stony-rocky soil in open on slope below vertical rock cliff. Shrub ca. 4 m tall; mostly past flowering; corolla purple with dark purple spots on upper lobe and adjacent parts of lateral lobes.
