Habitat: Growing in deep shade in moist humus on a steep
south facing mountainside in dense mixed woodland
Vegetation: Quercus mongolica var grosseserrata, Pinus
densiflora, Comus controversa, Tilia japonica and Betula
ermanii
Description: From a shrub to 3m x 4m with ovate leaves to 5cm
x 3cm mid green and hirsute both above and below. Fruit a
green conical capsule to 1.5cm x 1cm.
