VIET NAM: Bac Kan: Cho Ra region, Ba Be National Park. Lakeside, on
limestone rock. 140 m.
Liana. Brown stem, slightly rough, fleshy centre, no smell, regular
internodes 4 cm apart. Leaves midgreen, paler underside, smooth,
\ elliptic, hairless, no sap or smell. Flowers: simple cymes, flowerstem
’ has small white hairs, 5 sepals, light green, fleshy, 5 petals alternative
with sepals, 4 petals fold over, 1 large petal lies flat, has yellow ragged
edge, very strong sweet smell. Many small black ants live under folded
petals. 10 white pistils with yellow head, 9 inferior, 1 same size as pistil,
1 light green pistil.
