Heliocarpus cf. appendiculatus Turcz.
BELIZE: Cayo: 1 km south of Las Cuevas Research Station,
Bird Tower, Chiquibul Forest Reserve. Karstic hilltop with
Cecropia and bracken ferns. ca 680 m. 16°43'45.2'N,
88°59'37.9"W.
Shrub 4 - 5 m tall erect, multi-branched from base; inside stem
slimy and sticky; leaf upperside green with yellowish to light
green major veins, underside lighter green with reddish major
veins; reddish petioles. Calyx red with areas of yellow. One
ovule per carpel.
