Corda sensu lato t= "Pellia borealis Lorbeer" = Specimen “Go The type sheet in Herb, Dickson (BM) bears similar manuscript annotations by Menzies. N.B. Seta of specimen "A" was spliced, presumably by Menzies, at place marked with arrow by me. It would seem that this sheet, as well as the one Menzies sent to Dickson, came about by Menzies picking out elongate crisp-margined specimens of Pellia in an attempt to match the Vaillant illustration plant. The attempt was hot very successful. - I soaked the thallus of "B" , whi down, and reversed it and st removing the seta from the paper, by rotating it-on the bottom part of the seta, Spécimen "A" wag moistened in the upper part of the thallus only. Thé moss fragment was stuck behind the involugre, Pieées of the margin of "B" and one capsule valvd e ch6f "A" fand“"B" were removed for drawing and then r ldogaf ) Bee 1. iii. 1962. mounted upside tened it out, without Je Proskauer
