The type sheet in Herb, Dickson (BM) bears similar
manuscript annotations by Menzies.
N.B. Seta of specimen "A" was spliced, presumably by
Menzies, at place marked with arrow by me. It would
seem that this sheet, as well as the one Menzies sent
to Dickson, came about by Menzies picking out elongate
crisp-margined specimens of Pellia in an attempt to match
the Vaillant illustration plant. The attempt was hot
very successful. -
