Pedilanthus tithymaloides (L.) Poit.
BELIZE: Cayo: 1km north of Las Cuevas Research Station. On
a hilltop, west facing, very exposed, scrubby vegetation with
A bracken, Tournefortia, Cecropia, Boconia. On limestone. 700 m.,
Herb 0.5-0.75m tall, locally common. White latex. Stem has lots
of tiny white dots on dark green, a bit hairy. Leaves a little
reddish at the base. Lower side of leaf main vein sharply raised,
Flowers bright neon pink, inside of corolla and stamens hairy.
Green 3-part ovary halfway up the pink style. Many unripe,
unexserted stamens remain inside the corolla.
