Vietnam: Lao Cai, Enroute from 2764 m enroute to Cat Cat Village to
base camp number 2.
Lat/Long: 22°18'42.9’N : 103°46’3.42”E (WGS84)
Alt.: 2922m
Description: Tree. Leaves whorls, elliptical, apex cuspidate, surfuces
glaucous, midrib prominent on abaxial surface. Fruits capsular,
cylindrical, residual stigma. Height greater than 4 m.
Habitat: Dense mixed woodland with large areas of impermeable
Sinoarundinaria. Steeply sloped, very damp. Lower parts eventually
giveway to Rhododendron sinofalconeri forest.
Vegetation: Mixed woodland, large swathes of bamboo, valleys of
Rhododendron species eventually dominated by mature Rhododendron
forest.
