Fruit only. Small, much branched tree or wiry shrub from 10-25 °£%).
high, recognised at once by the peculiarly smooth, shimmering, tawny,
purple bark. Not seen in flower. Common in Rho do forest (nN. -facing
slopes) at about 9 ,000 feet. found also scattered through the bamboo
forest in shady gullies etc. Must flower very early - March perhaps
April, as the fruits are qwite fat by the end of May. 2nd June 1919.
