MSC Trip to Belize 2002 Begoniaceae Begonia fischeri Schrank Belize District: Cayo District Caana Temple, Maya site of Caracol, Chiquibul Reserve Forest Mayan ruins, rainforest. Herb. Stem short, woody-like with scars of old leaves. Leaves waxy on the upper side, paler green on the under side. Young leaves with red hairs on the under side. Pedicel of inflorescences very long, bright dark pink and hairy. Male flowers with white petals and bright yellow stamens; female flowers with white petals, pinkish at the base, with bright yellow stigmas. Bracts pinkish.
