Flora of Belize Melastomataceae Aciotis Det: Brewer, SW May 2008 Stann Creek: Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary; western edge of the Cockscomb Basin on granite and (igneous-based) metasediments. Maya Divide, valley/gorge in the north branch of the Upper Mare's Nest branch of the Swasey Branch of Monkey River. 250 m 16°44'18" N, 88°43'S1" W Large fleshy herb 60 cm; flowers with 4 white petals & purple stamens; green fruit. Collected in 70% isopropyl alcohol. Steep-sided river valley with low canopy dominated by Euterpe precatoria, Acalypha diversifolia, Alchornea latifolia & Guarea macrophylla.
