ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN 0 E01012086 HERB. HORT. EDINB. Flora of Belize Annonaceae Guatteria amplifolia Triana & Planch. Stann Creek: Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary; southwestern Cockscomb Basin, close to the lowest part of the upper third of Mare's Nest Branch of the Swasey Branch of Monkey River. The Maya Divide, on a west-facing spur. 600 m 16°43'37" N, 88°43'51" W Locally common tree to 8 m, 10 cm dbh. Flowers with 3 small green tepals with an orange brown androecium. Collected in 70% isopropyl alcohol. Ridge forest dominated by Euterpe precatoria, Sloanea tuerckheimii & Pourouma bicolor. Understory rich in ferns, Psychotria elata, Synecanthus fibrosus, Rinorea guatemalensis & numerous Melastomataceae. Canopy 15-20 m, thick & spongy but dry leaf litter over granite.
