Habitat: Subalpine tussock grassland and improved pasture
Description: Male perennial rosette herb forming clump to 1.2m wide, in groups of up to 7; flowering stem to 1m, yellow brown with red tinges, stalk to 5cm diameter at base, inflorescences broad - narrowly conical. Populations showing large range of variations :- leaves with stipules up to 15cm but everything from almost absent to 15cm on the same plant.
