Habitat: Montane forest.
Description: Terrestrial herb. Rhizome raised 5-20 cm above ground by stilt roots. Leafy shoots 5-25 cm apart, to 1.5 m long. Base to 15 mm diam., brown. Sheath pale green. Ligule to 23 mm long, purple-brown. Petiole to 1.6 cm long. Lamina to 37 x 2 cm, mid-green, not plicate. Inflorescence from the rhizome. Peduncle c. 1 cm long. Spike c. 1.5 x 1.5 cm, dark brown, with 8-10 flowers. Fertile bract dark purple-brown. Bracteole pale purple-brown Calyx pale red, dark red at apex. Corolla tube pale red; lobes pink. Staminal tube pale pin. Labellum red. Stamen pale pink; crest pink. Stigma white.
