Miscellaneous notes: This sheet was removed from a North America Juncus cover. Both specimens are of Marsippospermum grandiflorum (L.f.) Hook.f. (Juncaceae). The Menzies specimen on the left (not in his handwriting) has been wrongly provenanced. It is almost certainly from Staten Island (ie Isla de los Estados, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) and collected by Archibald Menzies when he visited that locality in February 1778. A smaller example of the species is on his own herbarium sheet (see in this same folder). Eric W. Groves 24 iii 1998
