Collecting locality: Belize:Toledo:Deep River Forest Reserve North; ~8 km west of Southern Highway along BFREE access road, ~200 m south of access road.
Latitude: 16°31'30''N, Longitude: 88°42'33''W
Habitat: Open woody savanna grassland. Rare sparsely scattered Pinus caribaea to 18 m (<5%) canopy; sparse shrub layer of occasional Acoelorraphe wrightii 3-5 m, Byrsonima crassifolia 3 (-8) m & rare Curatella americana 3 m. Herb layer dominated by grasses, currently dry but clearly poorly drained (deep tussock formations). Evidence of past burning (>1 month previous).
Description: Frequent herb, post-fire regrowth to 70 cm (old inflorescences to 2 m); tufted habit; ligule present; flat leaf blade; solid culm; biting red ant nest in tussock.
