Habitat: Dense pine woodland savanna turning into broken ridge. Frequent pine 17 m, 5%; dense shrub layer, 100%, abundant Calliandra houstoniana, frequent Pinus caribaea saplings, Tripsacum latifolium, Davilla kunthii, Byrsonima crassifolia, occasional Vochysia hondurensis, Cochlospermum vitiifolium & Dalechampia schippii. Not burnt for many years.
Description: Occasional shrub 5 m (normally tree to 15 m) at edge of broken ridge; large white flowers with 5 white petals, numerous yellow anthers; fruit dehisces into 5 sections.
