Habitat: Open pine woodland savanna. Abundant Pinus caribaea 12-15 m, occasional Acoelorraphe wrightii 1 (-2.5) m, Quercus oleoides <1 m, Byrsonima crassifolia 1 m & Curatella americana 3 m. Dense sedge & grass dominated herb layer, >90%. Site burnt regularly, most recently during the previous dry season; reduced shrub layer & no pine regeneration.
Description: Rare (locally frequent) herb to 15 (-20) cm; stem & basal leaves purple, most basal leaves often whorled; flowers with 5 white petals.
