Collecting locality: Belize:Cayo:Spanish Lookout; 3 miles west of Spanish Lookout.
Latitude: 17°14'24''N, Longitude: 88°57'26''W
Habitat: Open oak woodland. Frequent Quercus oleoides to 1-8 (-12) m, Byrsonima crassifolia 1-3 m, occasional Acoelorraphe wrightii 0.5-5 m & rare Pinus caribaea 15 m. Herb layer dominated by mix of sedges & grass with abundant Tephrosia nitens & frequent Cassytha filiformis. Heavily disturbed; evidence of gravel extraction, piles of gravel, artificial drains, tracks & invasive weed species. Allegedly burnt every year, although site appears not to have been burnt for at least one year.
Description: Abundant herb; invasive species dominating large areas of herb layer; creeping habit, rooting at nodes; solid culm; flat leaf blades; ligule of short hairs; attractive purple inflorescence held ~1 m off ground.
