Habitat: Disturbed secondary forest and thicket with Pinus yunnanensis on drier slopes. Growing on moist slope with Alnus nepalensis, Euptelea pleiosperma, and Magnolia sp.; Vegetation: Subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest; Aspect: NE; Geomorphology: decomposed granite
Description: Tree 5-6 m tall. Bark exfoliating. Leaves to ca. 30 cm long. Capsules red with a ca. 15 cm persistent style.
