Description: Leaves with strong purplish-red colorartion. Basal bracts recurved away, main bracts appressed, mucronate with patches of brown scales in the upper **** part and all over finely papillose - sericius outside. Calyx lobes all 5 well developed c. 8 x 1 mm reflexed outwards. Flower bud ovoid c. 25 x 9 mm. Flowers c. 50 x 50 mm, orange semi erect to horizontal, tubes c. 36 x 5 x 10 mm, sulcate, groved in lower half; lobes 25 x 15 mm. Stamens ± well groups in 5s on each side of the lower half of the mouth; anthers dark purple, filaments red. Style immature well within mouth lying on lower side of this tube, green at base, yellowish above. Stigma pink, hardly expanded from style, c. 1 mm diameter.
