Habitat: Shallow leaf litter, heavy brown soil over limestone bedrock, >36 yrs since farming.; Vegetation: Tropical evergreen, lowland, broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant (Cohune ridge). Canopy 20m, growing in association with Sabal mauritiiformis, Coccoloba sp and lots of Piperaceae shrubs.
Description: 15m tall tree, 25.2cm dbh. Orange fibrous slash with strong scent of iodine/turpentine. Grey bark tends to flake off in patches, lots of mosses and lichens.
