Habitat: Canopy ~14 m in an area farmed within the last 30 years, on limestone bedrock.; Vegetation: Disturbed tropical, evergreen, broadleaf, seasonal, lowland forest dominated by Attalea cohune, Cupania belizensis, Cochlospermum vitifolium & Casearia tremula, open understory.
Description: Leafless (deciduous) tree 17.5 m tall, 11 cm dbh; large round green fruit visible on branches that apparently dehisce to reveal cotton, fallen flowers have yellow inner sepals (3), yellow petals, orange anthers. Known as cotton tree.
