Description: A large, much branched, thick fleshy-stemmed weed. Fruit 10 inches long, without the horns, which are at first enclosed by a thick tough green skin, and are very flexible. As the fruit withers this skin strips off, the horns arch under and get very hard. Seed vessel also at first covered by a fleshy skin, concealing its prickles. Root shape and colour essentially of a carrot
