Collecting locality: Ecuador:Off Quito - Santo Domingo road to right, just before high waterfall at Napa.
Habitat: Mixed bush.
Description: small tree. Large almost cordate leaves, pointed 8' long x 5' broad, serrated, all very much eaten by insects. Veins prominent on back. Petiole 3' long, catkins from leaf-axils with red tufts, hairlike, growing from 3-carpel ovary. Catkins 8' long. Apparently bi-sexual.
