Habitat: Savannah in the shade of a clump of fan palms (always seen in shade - yellow when slightly exposed).
Description: Herb, locally quite frequent. Forms a thick mat of creeping, leafy stems, rooting at intervals. Horizontal creeping stems are purple. The whole plant softly hairy. Flowers usually only one open per stem. 4 calyx lobes, purple at tips. Corolla tube pale purple-white, corolla lobes vivid blue. 4 stamens adnate to top of corolla tube. 3 lobed feathery stigma. Fruits occur in clusters of ~6 when green and unripe; ripe fruits bright vivid blue, only one or two per cluster.
