Description: Herb to 50 cm, poorly branched, inflorescence always terminal occasionally also on short lateral branches in the upper nodes, bracts white with faint green venation usually subtending three flowers, calyx wine-red, white in the tube inside, corolla and filaments wine-red, style shading from pale to deep wine-red at the apex, minutely bilobed stigma lobes white, anthers brown, leaves dark green, flossy above, pale and dull below, thin textured, stems often with pseudo-dichotomy (Sp. nov.?).
