Habitat: Mayan ruins, rainforest
Description: Herb. Stem short, woody-like with scars of older leaves. Leaves waxy on the upper side, paler green on the underside. Young leaves with red hairs on the under side. Pedicel of the inflorescence long, bright dark pink and hairy. Male flowers with white petals and bright yellow stamens. Female flowers with white petals, pinkish at the base, and with bright yellow stigmas. Fruits and wings greenish and when mature pink.
Miscellaneous notes: Growing on one of the highest (37-40m) ruin structures of a Mayan temple. Totally exposed to the sun, individuals grouped together forming a visible population.
