Description: Herb. Stem circular, 30-35cm long, 2cm wide, green and soft inside almost woody outside(dark green-golden) with abundant adventitious roots, showing scars of old leaves. Petioles of old leaves softer than the ones of young leaves; leaves very thin and soft, waxy, in the upper side darker green in areas close to veins. Abundant red hairs on the under side with also few hairs on the upper side. Old leaves shiny and glabrous. Pedicels of inflorescences very dark pink and hairy; male flowers with white petals, stamens bright yellow. Fruit with 3 wings, one much larger than the other two.
Miscellaneous notes: Growing on a slope, on sandstone, under the shade of trees. The most abundant trees in the area were Ceiba, Brosimum aliscastrum, Corynostylis arborea, Trichillia minutiflora, Spondias mombin, Schilozobium parahiba, strangler figs. Growing with other herbs and ferns
