Description: Leaf elliptic bright shining above dotted below and becoming deep rufous with age. Flower buds large ovate embraced by ovate actue deep red scales, the outer 2-3 of which become green and reflexed. Fruits 12 carpelled, leaving a central axis with style 3 inches long. Calyx at bottem free long.
Miscellaneous notes: An extremely common plant, forming a dense jungle with much branched and kneed stems.
