FLORA OF BURMA 1937*"39
Rhododendron momanthum Balf.f.& W.W.Sru det?J.Hutchinson
Loc. Nam Tamai Valley. 28 0?N. 97 b5*&. 8,000ft. 12*9.1937 An epiphytic shrub, also on rocks along the exposed ridge; flowers just opening, a charming pastel shade of yellow, almost primrose. K.oC.lepidote on the outside; glabrous within, slightly oblique. Filaments hairy at the base; style glabrous(a few scales at the extreme base), larger than stamens & corolla i.e.exserted; ovary lepidot flowers in pairs. Note. The assignment of this species to Triflorum or Maddeni must depend on the seeds. If 'alpine', then Triflorum. If with long end tails(as is likely with an epiphytic sp.), then Maddeni1 28*10* Some flowers still remaining or 3ust opening. Plenty of ripe capsules. So there are perhaps 2 flowering periods, autumn & spring; unless the capsules take a full year to ripen. I suspect that the autumn flowers never ripen their seeds.
