Epiphyte of the conifers -rhododendron forest.
Specimens with flower buds. The lepidote bud scales with finely
ciliate margin, as well as tne leaves suggest Section Maddeni.
18/9/28. Now in bloom - many fallen corolla. Lobes and upper part
of corolla pinkish purple (with darker spotting inside) fading to
white at the base: anthers brownisn yellow. The corolla is
finely lepidote on the outside, glabrous within ; the scales
scattered. It is of the 'hag's hack* type, slightly oblique,
compressed laterally, (as in Rh. dendricola). Stamens 10, 4 in
pairs, two (upper and lower, shortest and longest) single: base
of filamente hairy. They form a close pal11sada round the ovary.
Longest ^ stamens exserted. Style glabrous, longer than longest
stamens, well exserted. 24/8/26. Ward 8578".
