oO 0 A g g g = Vernay-Cutting Expedition to North Burma Ericaceae Rhododendron microphyton Franch. Myanmar (Burma). Ngawchang Valley near Kang-fang. 5000-6000 ft. On pine-oak wooded slopes (stunted) in evergreen forest in the gullies. Common. A shrub or small tree with several stems much branched bushy habit. Shoots, petioles, midrib and margin of leaf, peduncle, calyx and ovary bristly hairy, with golden bristles. Truss about 6 flowered, compact. Flowers pale pink with darker spots on the upper lobe. Corolla glabrous. Anthers pink, filaments slightly pubescent at the base; styles glabrous. Seeds straw yellow, fusiform, finely striated, no wing or tail. Stamens 5. Leaves narrow oval acute approximate at the ends of the branches. A very free flowering shrub, must be a gay sight in early spring. A few flowers opening now.
