Frequent small tree to 5 m; foliar glands visited by ants.
Seasonally waterlogged savanna with trees & shrubs.
Numerous small trees & shrubs 3-8 m (40%) abundant
Haematoxylon campechiana, frequent Jacquinia macrocarpa,
Crescentia cujete, Dalbergia glabra, Coccoloba reflexiflora,
occasional Diospyros bumelioides, Bucida buceras. Sparse
ground cover (10%) sedge dominated with abundant Cipura
sp. Evidently inundated for prolonged periods, ground flat.

Rare vine in open area.
Open pine palmetto woodland savanna. Frequent Pinus
caribaea 15-17 m, abundant Acoelorraphe wrightii 2 (-5) m,
Calliandra houstoniana 1-2 m, frequent Byrsonima crassifolia
1-3 (-5) m and occasional Davilla kunthii 1m. Quercus
oleoides trees rare, but frequent in localised patches, frequent
saplings. Herb layer a mix of sedges & grasses with abundant
Mimosa spp. Disturbance from logging (numerous tracks &
cut trunks); significant damage by recent (1 month previous)
hurricane Richard with debris from standing trees, fallen oak,
pine & craboo. Site burnt previous dry season.

Isla.

Rare small tree 5 m in forest island.
Open saline coastal savanna. Open grassland dominated by
Distichlis spicata (Goodwin 1580) with islands of frequent
Rhizophora mangle, Conocarpus erectus, Laguncularia
racemosa, Bravaisia berlandieriana & Thrinax radiata.
Inundated to 5-10 cm with brackish water.

dense forest. ca 600 m 16°43'00", 88°59'00".
Description: Bark in thick square persistent lumps, bright red
underslash that fades to pink then to white deeper into the
wood, latex white and sticky, tree 15m tall with a DBH 22cm,
ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN cylindrical CS with buttressed base.
