A thin scraggy shrub growing in thickets on the rocky ridge, in exposed places. Leaves closely lepidote below, the scales black, giving a smoky grey colour. Leafy calyx with a few crimson scales near the base, Stigma erimson, style as long as corolla tube, with a few bright crimson scales at the base, curved so as to bring the stigma~outside the staminal ring. Stamens lo, unequal. The anthers gathered into a loose ring and the lower ones slightly upturned. Filaments hairy at the base. Ovary encrusted witn shining crimson scales full of a secretton.
