Obs.—An early, nutritive, and tolerably productive grass;
ant in rich moist meadows ; yet grows freely in dry,
rather sterile soils. Emits an agreeable odour in drying.
All other British genera of grasses belong to the Class
Triandria, and, with the exception of Nardus, to the Order
Digynia.
