Habitat: Wet and dense deciduous forest on floor of canyon.
Description: Single- or few-trunked small tree, to 3 m tall; crown diam. ca. 4 m; buds pale rusty coloured; bark reddish brown spotted with whitish lenticels; lvs scabrous; petioles reddish; flowers white and fragrant.
Miscellaneous notes: (Nearing the northern limit of species here in the Yuntai; also known to occur in Shandong Province adjacent to Jiangsu border).
