Habitat: Sinkhole first formed in 23rd November 1343 after severe winter storms and possibly accompanied by an earthquake. This is a natural depression was formed by the collapse of the underlying limestone strata (doline). Trees growing on upper, inner rocky, vertical sides with dense woody vegetation at bottom of Laurus nobilis (only known site), Pistacia terebinthus and Punicia granatum. Darniella melitensis frequent on walls of doleline
Description: Tree to 7m tall, multistemmed with one stem recently fallen to the ground but still attached; foliage lax
Miscellaneous notes: Only 5 trees in this location. In Malta this species is Critcally Endangered with only 4 locations which contain about 130 individuals
